Today, 17 November 2019, Cairo Criminal Court -Circuit 15 in Abdeen looks at an appeal request against an asset freeze order imposed on Nazra for Feminist Studies and its Executive Director Mozn Hassan. The Court also is to look at an appeal against the travel ban order imposed on Mozn Hassan.

The legal harassment and targeting of Feminist activits and WHRD Mozn Hassan and Nazra for Feminist Studies continues. The Court postponed considering the appeals against the asset freeze order imposed on Nazra for Feminist Studies, and the travel ban imposed on Ms. Hassan for three consecutive times since the first hearing on 20 June 2019.

Its worthnoting that Nazra and its Executive Director Mozn Hassan have been targeted on the basis of Case 173/2011, widely known as the "foreign funding case", as North Cairo Elemntary Court decided in January 2017 to freeze the assets of Nazra based on a request from the investigative judge of Case 173/2011, and it is the first incident in the history of NGOs working on women issues to be targeted through an asset freeze.

Prior to that, a travel ban has been issued against Nazra's founder and executive director, Mozn Hassan in June 2016, followed by an asset freeze on Ms. Hassan as well in January 2017. Mozn Hassan is a feminist activist and a laureate of the Charlotte Bunch Award for Women Human Rights in 2013 and a laureate of the Right Livelihood Award, also known as the Alternative Nobel, along with Nazra for their contribution in working on women's rights.
